When I lived in Florida I was fishing in what was basically a swamp filled with a lot of things you would not want to catch (not the least of which would be an alligator.) I remember one day I thought I had hooked a monster bass. This thing was gonna be at least 15 pounds! You can imagine my surprise when I realized that I had hooked a large Florida soft shell turtle. Even though I knew it couldn't bite me I was panicked about how I would unhook it. I did not need too, it broke my line as soon as I tried to take it out of the water. Whew!; ▶ Reply to This

Permalink Reply by Greg Yarbrough on November 26, 2008 at 7:54pm: It was very heavy. It took me about 10 minutes to get it up off the bottom in 18ft of water. That was when Berkley Fireline first came out. No way I could have brought that up with 8lb mono!

I know, pretty nasty. I lost jigs on both of them as I was not going to touch them. I clipped my line on both occasions!; ▶ Reply to This

Permalink Reply by Don on November 27, 2008 at 9:02am: I was fishing the bark river on my campground when i thought i hooked a decent bluegill when i saw what i thought was a stick stuck to my line when i got it to shore i realized it was a deer antler 6 points lol. it is dark brown from being in the river with part of the skull still attached.; ▶ Reply to This
